Montaña Arena beach

A virgin beach

Located to the south of Gran Canaria, Montaña Arena beach is one of the few virgin spots around. It’s a favourite place for locals who come to get away from the crowds. The sand is very fine and the water is transparent. Unfortunately because access to the water is a little challenging it’s not a recommended place for families.

Pet friendly

The best way to get to Montaña Arena is from the coastal road that goes between Pasito Blanco and El Pajar. The spot is great for people with pets because a section of the beach has been set aside for furry creatures. To get to the pet area you need to walk 10 to 15 minutes from the car park. Visitors should travel with not too much baggage and take appropriate footwear. Please note that nudism in the area is common.

Sustainability
Sostenibilidad
- Never leave waste of any type lying around, including cigarette butts. Leftover food leads to a proliferation of rats and wild cats.
- Do not throw any waste or other objects into the sea.
- Respect the animals. Do not bother them or feed them. If you see an injured specimen, you can call the emergency number: 112. Do not pick flowers or plants from the environment.
- Do not pick up or take away stones or any other item from the natural environment. And do not move them to pile them up into sadly famous 'towers'.
- Do not use soap or gel in the showers located at the entrance to the beach.
- Try to use ocean- friendly sun creams.
- Pets are prohibited at most beaches. Make sure you can take them beforehand.
- Try not to alter the peace of the environment with excessive noise (loud music, yelling, etc.) or activities that might be bothersome, such as ball games.
