Handmade cheeses covered with paprika and gofio
In Betancuria, in the north of Fuerteventura, the La Villa farm dairy makes traditional products with a variety of goats' cheeses – fresh, semi-mature, mature, gran reserva, in oil, with paprika and with gofio. With over 100 years of experience in making cheeses, the products are sold under the Queso Majorero Protected Designation of Origin, with the 'Betancuria en Flor’ label on smoked cheeses and those produced with vegetable rennet.
Guided tours and direct purchases at the dairy
In the town of Llano de Santa Catalina, La Villa farm dairy produces enough milk to allow the production of up to eight thousand kilos of cheese each season, and individual cheeses of one, two, three and five kilos are made. The cheese shop and dairy are open daily to the public for guided tours or to purchase its produce.
