Shopping in the capital of Lanzarote
Among the typical blue and white houses, full of simplicity and originality, and other more majestic ones which show the passing of time, shopping in Arrecife is accompanied by the sea breeze and of course a bite of delicious local food. The capital of Lanzarote, situated on the east of the island, still maintains almost intact the charm of a fishing town and although it has several shopping centres, there are small shops hidden away on the shopping route under blue skies which starts in Calle León y Castillo (León y Castillo Street).
Souvenirs en Real Street and handcrafts in Pérez Galdós
León y Castillo Street also known as Real Street, is pedestrian and with its numerous trees and outdoor cafés has got a good mix of traditional and modern. Lacoste, Zara, Tom Smith, Mango and Rocasa are just as busy as the perfumeries and family-owned businesses selling shirts from La Graciosa and “novios de Mojón” (The bride and groom from Mojon- ceramic figures). There is more on offer in other streets such as Otilia Díaz or Fajardo, where we find the jeweller’s Ferreiros and the gift shop Oh! Regalos. In Pérez Galdós street is Juan Brito’s workshop, which is worth visiting as it sells pieces of genuine handcrafted pottery.More information
