The best view of the Valle Gran Rey rural park
The impressive ravine of Valle Gran Rey boasts some of the most picturesque views on the west of the island of La Gomera, such as the spectacular bird’s eye view offered by the Palmarejo Viewpoint. From this high vantage point, the visitor has a spectacular view of vertical rock walls, terraced hillsides, palm groves and traditional houses. All of which justify the classification of the valley as a Rural Park and a Unesco Biosphere Reserve.
A César Manrique-designed viewpoint in La Gomera
This lookout point is also known as the César Manrique viewpoint after the famous Canarian architect who designed it. Manrique brought together Canarian and modern elements and camouflaged the building, placing it amongst the surrounding rocks. The gardens display numerous native plants of the valley, such as Canary palm trees, from which the delicious palm syrup (or honey) is obtained. This delicacy is used in traditional dishes offered by the restaurant located inside the viewpoint itself. There is also parking, information boards and a tourist information desk.
