Kitesurf for all levels, next to Costa Calma
In the south-east of Fuerteventura, very close to the Costa Calma, you’ll find the kitesurfing spot of Playa de Sotavento. Boasting a large area for kitesurfing, it is suitable for people of any level. The wind conditions at the beach, together with the facilities and services available for kitesurfers, such as equipment hire and purchase, make Playa de Sotavento one of Fuerteventura’s most popular spots.
A spot included in the PWA World Cup
This spot is especially popular thanks to the PWA (Professional Windsurfing Association) Windsurfing & Kiteboarding World Cup, which it welcomes every year. The strongest, most constant winds on Sotavento beach are found during spring and summer, which can reach speeds of over 50 knots in a north-easterly direction. The waves, which break very close to the shore, do very little to change the fact that getting into the water at this beach is very easy for everyone, no matter what level.
