The Farce of the Spanish Golden Age

"The Farce of the Spanish Golden Age", by the company Timaginas Teatro, is presented at the Cine Viejo de Candelaria as a clever verse play written by Armando Jerez. The production portrays Diego Velázquez in the midst of painting Las Meninas, featuring characters such as Margarita, Nicolás Pertusato, and Mariana of Austria to create a theatrical portrait of Golden Age Spain. The play blends the depiction of the painter and the courtly atmosphere with the appearance of Calderón de la Barca, who is in search of a new Segismundo adapted to today’s existential dilemmas.
