Photographer Pierre Laborde presents SIMB. The False Lions, an exhibition featuring a selection of images depicting this ancient Senegalese possession ritual. After years of documenting cultural events in Senegal, Laborde has captured the essence of this tradition, where men dressed as lions recreate a ritual rooted in encounters between hunters and wild felines in the country’s dense forests. With striking red and black makeup, whiskers, and fierce expressions, the "false lions" arrive roaring to the rhythm of the drums, creating a spectacle filled with mysticism and ancestral symbolism.
