Anacaona

“Anacaona,” created by Acerina Amador in collaboration with Fernando López, is a contemporary dance work that revives the memory of the Taíno princess who became a symbol of female and anti-colonial resistance. Inspired by her legacy and by the traces of other silenced women in the Canary Islands, the piece weaves a dialogue between past and present to reflect on the many forms of resistance against imposed obedience.
