Romería de San Roque

The Romería de San Roque is celebrated in Garachico, Tenerife. This event brings together decorated carts, traditional music groups, and pilgrims dressed in traditional costumes in a festive procession from the Travesía de Guía de Isora to the Ermita de San Roque. The pilgrimage honors the saint, protector against epidemics, and commemorates the end of a plague in the 17th century. The week before includes the Fiesta de las Tradiciones, and the day before features a mass and fireworks. On the day of the pilgrimage, an emotional procession takes place, combining land and sea elements, with thousands of faithful accompanying the Saint back to his hermitage. This event has been declared a Festival of National Tourist Interest.
