Carnival of La Aldea de San Nicolás

The Carnival of La Aldea de San Nicolás, in Gran Canaria, is a celebration that blends tradition and modernity, highlighting the revival of "mascaritas", where participants dress in old clothes and conceal their faces with masks or veils. The tradition of blackening children's faces and dressing them in goat skins is also preserved, evoking ancient fertility rituals.
