Sabinosa Festivities

The Sabinosa Festivities is a traditional celebration in the westernmost village of Spain, located on the island of El Hierro. It forms part of the journey of the Virgen de los Reyes during the Bajada, a quadrennial event in honor of the island’s patron saint. Since 1993, Sabinosa has welcomed the Virgin with great enthusiasm after one of the longest stages of the route, which crosses El Golfo. The day includes religious ceremonies, processions through steep streets, and stops at emblematic sites such as Hoya del Moral, where local products—especially wine—are offered. The celebration reflects the deep devotion and strong cultural roots of this Herreño community.
