Royal Feast of the Descent of the Virgen of Los Reyes

The Fiesta Real is a traditional celebration on the island of El Hierro that marks the end of the Novena and the fulfillment of the Vow in honor of the Virgen de los Reyes, the island’s patron saint. During this event, communities from across the island gather in the town of Valverde to pay tribute to the Virgin. Each community, accompanied by its dancers and patron saints, approaches the High Altar of the Church of La Concepción to offer the traditional Dance of the Virgin. The day concludes with a Eucharist presided over by the bishop of the Diocese of Nivaria, followed by a procession of the image through the streets of the town, allowing devotees and visitors to express their faith in an atmosphere of devotion and tradition.
