El Cabo Festivities

The Fiesta of El Cabo marks the beginning of the journey of the Virgen de los Reyes through the various towns of El Hierro during the traditional Bajada, held every four years. After the Fiesta Real in Valverde, the image of the Virgin is brought to the capital district of El Cabo, where it is warmly welcomed by the local community. The streets are decorated, and several events take place, including the celebration of the Eucharist at the Hermitage of Santiago and a communal meal known as the “tendida de manteles.” During the procession, the Virgin is accompanied by dancers, musicians, and devotees, in an atmosphere of devotion and joy that reflects the deep bond between the people of El Hierro and their patron saint.
