From the junction toward El Cedro, the path descends along an old cobbled road and immediately the freshness of the laurel forest envelops us — a forest always damp, shrouded in mist that makes each pedal stroke a sensory journey. The stepped terraces, stone houses, and rural landscape create unforgettable snapshots. Close by is the stream of El Cedro and the small hermitage of Lourdes, spots filled with history and tradition that reflect the lives and devotion of those who once inhabited the mountain. The trail continues down the gorge slope, crossing an environment where the vegetation dominates the horizon, until reaching the Liria dam, wedged between stone walls, a testimony to the island’s bond with water and agriculture. The route then takes us near hamlets such as Los Aceviños and Mériga, tied to agricultural life of past centuries. Here the landscape opens up, combining cultivated terraces with the lushness of monteverde.
