Climbing routes in Gran Canaria’s central highlands
One of the top locations in the Canary Islands for classic climbing is Ayacata in the central highlands of Gran Canaria. This spectacular location, with views to iconic Roque Nublo rock, has a number of walls with over 200 routes of varying lengths and levels. Some are advanced climbs that challenge even top climbers.
The El Frontón and La Librería walls
The El Frontón wall, closest to Ayacata hamlet, is the busiest and most popular, along with the La Librería wall. Both have a number of iconic routes, some up to 150 metres. Also well known, and up to 200 metres high, are the El Laurel ridge and El Pino wall. For those who want to climb Roque Nublo rock itself, there are routes for climbers of all abilities.More information
