Casa Poesía, in El Hierro, preserves traditional herreño architecture: stone walls, a sabina wood-shingle roof and a private courtyard that create a harmonious home full of character. Built by my paternal grandparents in 1900 and carefully restored step by step in recent years. From the main entrance there is access to the courtyard and the ground floor, where the kitchen, dining room, bathroom (with shower) and interior staircase are located. Upstairs, there is a spacious living room and a bedroom with balcony, as well as access to the exterior stairs leading down to the courtyard. The courtyard is peaceful and private, full of charm. In winter, the vegetation comes back to life and shows its splendour. The island changes with the seasons in an ever-shifting burst of life. Sunrises from the bedroom and living room are a gift beyond words.
