The festivities of El Charco

The festivities of El Charco, in the village of San Nicolás, is one of the most famous and popular events in the Canary Islands. Every September 11, in the large puddle of the municipality, hundreds of people gather to fish with their own hands the fish that live in this coastal lagoon. This celebration is considered a Good of Cultural Interest and is based on a pre-Hispanic tradition.
