Puertito de Lobos

One of the Canary Islands' most beautiful natural pools

Where can you possibly discover an uninhabited pearl of the Atlantic Ocean that was once a sea lions’ playground? All you have to do is go to Fuerteventura, catch a boat in Corralejo and 20 minutes later you are in Puertito de Lobos, a place with hardly any traces of human existence on what is practically a virgin islet, just 4.5 km2.Discover diverse and delightful natural blue pools of clear, calm waters for taking a peaceful dip or snorkelling. After, have a snack in the only restaurant on the islet, but above all what you’ll find is peace. Lots of peace.

Swimming in an islet with incredible views of the north of Fuerteventura

This treasure of land and sea has become one of the most appreciated views of Fuerteventura. The clear waters of the pools contrast dramatically with the volcanic sea bed. This, combined with the small fishing boats and the vast expanses of water in the area leave you with a desire to dive in and stay for a very long time. The rest of the islet, an official Nature Reserve, with a lovely beach, walkways and amazing views of both Lanzarote and Fuerteventura, make this a truly unforgettable visit.

  • Never leave waste of any type lying around, including cigarette butts. Leftover food leads to a proliferation of rats and wild cats.
  • Do not throw any waste or other objects into the water.
  • Respect the animals. Do not bother them or feed them. If you see an injured specimen, you can call the emergency number: 112. Do not pick flowers or plants from the environment.
  • Do not pick up or take away stones or any other item from the natural environment. And do not move them to pile them up into sadly famous 'towers'.
  • Do not use soap or gel in the showers.
  • Try to use ocean-friendly sun creams.
  • Try not to alter the peace of the environment with excessive noise (loud music, yelling, etc.) or activities that might be bothersome, such as ball games.
  • Pets are prohibited at many natural pools. Make sure you can take them beforehand.
