Romería Barquera en honor a Nuestra Señora Mercedes de Rojas, El Médano

The Romería Barquera is an emblematic festivity that takes place in September on the beach of El Médano. This celebration, which dates back to the 20th century, consists of a maritime procession where boats decorated with flowers and flags travel around the town's bay in honour of Nuestra Señora de las Mercedes. Thousands of visitors come every year to witness this event, which includes offerings thrown into the sea by fishermen, music and traditional Canarian dances, making it a unique and colourful experience.
