25 July 2024
The International Canarias Jazz & More Festival presents the Perinké Big Band with their show "Mango Fever" at Plaza de Santa Ana. Initially founded at the Professional Conservatory of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and led by Ximo Martínez, this group has emerged as one of the leading formations in the island's music scene and throughout the archipelago. Featuring around twenty talented musicians, the band celebrates 1950s Latin music, paying homage to figures like Machito, Tito Rodriguez, and Tito Puente with classics such as "Ran Kan Kan," "Mambo Inn," "Tumba tumbador," and "Quimbombó," performed with original arrangements from the era recovered by Canary Islands composer and arranger Rayko León.
