Mariposa

"We present 'Mariposa', a production by Canarian choreographer Carlos Pons Guerra and DeNada Dance Theatre, which creates an operatic drama danced to transport the viewer to a remote Caribbean port. In this setting, a young prostitute and a foreign sailor tragically fall in love in an ingenious dance adaptation of Puccini's iconic opera.

'Mariposa' is a queer tragedy inspired by Madama Butterfly, with original music by award-winning composer Luis Miguel Cobo. This composition is based on the 19th century Italian opera composer's scores, enriched with Caribbean sounds and poetry by Indo-French Karthika Nair."
