The Contemporary Festival presents the Cantando Admont concert in Gran Canaria. This Austrian ensemble, dedicated to vocal music from the Middle Ages to the present, seeks to revitalize contemporary music and the rich ancient repertoire. The concert program includes works from the 14th century to the present, including the premiere of a composition by the Canary Islands author Gonzalo Díaz Yerro. The concert explores the evolution of singing, from the use of dissonance as an expressive tool in ancient works like "Prophetiae Sibyllarum" and "De ma douleur" to the potential of phonetics in contemporary pieces such as "Salle cinq." It also features Korean singing in "Ma-am," which presents a slow and intimate style, and explores peripheral vocal gestures such as moaning and shouting in "Tangled Dew." The program offers a panorama of both the past and future of singing, reflecting on its forms of expression and technique.
