The Teatro Guiniguada presents Ardiendo como mariposas, a play by the Hojarasca theater company that offers an interdisciplinary and innovative stage proposal. The play explores otherness and the mechanisms of exclusion and discrimination through three levels: identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic origins. Inspired by various literary and historiographical sources, such as Franz Kafka's A Report to an Academy and texts on monstrosity in the West, the dramaturgy addresses themes like slavery, the persecution of homosexuals, and the myth of the islands as spaces of wonder. Under the direction of Oswaldo Bordón, the play recreates the hold of a colonial galleon, where the characters Gaspar and Cristóbal, portrayed by Juan Carlos Tacoronte and Jonatán Rodríguez, struggle for their emancipation in an environment that reflects the different facets of slavery and marginalization.
