Climbing the Roque Cano

Multi-pitch climbs in Vallehermoso

The right side of the Vallehermoso ravine in the north of the island of La Gomera, hides an interesting and memorable multi-pitch climbing location. This is the emblematic Roque Cano, a rock formation, a natural monument and a symbol of the island along with the Roque Agando, whose walls reach heights of up to 250 metres. Climbing this summit is an adventure suited to the more daring and experienced climber, particularly when ascending its western face.

Sign your name in the visitors’ books at the summit of La Gomera

Due to the great geological importance and scenic beauty of the Roque Cano Natural Monument, a special permit to climb its' routes is required which is granted by the local government of La Gomera. The reward is ample, though, when the heights of its summit are reached. There you’ll find perfectly preserved visitors’ books in their boxes and with written comments that reflect the climbers themselves. The best way to sign these books is to climb the less complex routes on the south face.
