Climbing in Tamadaba

400 rutas in a pine forest close to Artenara

The island’s main sports climbing zone is in the heart of the Tamadaba Natural Park close to Artenara village in north Gran Canaria. This almost pristine landscape holds one of the best preserved pine forests in the Canary Islands and is the island’s undisputed climbing hotspot with around 400 routes of medium difficulty and up to 40 metres.

Well equipped climbing routes

All the routes in the area are well equipped and despite being mainly of medium difficulty there are some suitable for beginners as new routes are added all the time in more remote areas of the site. Except for some narrow routes the site is climbable all year round. There’s a campsite close by but you need prior permission from the Área de Medioambiente del Cabildo de Gran Canaria to camp.
