Unique wines in the north-west corner of La Palma
Noroeste Winery in La Palma, better known by its Vega Norte label, has been making wines in the north of La Palma since 1998. Each year they produce a good crop of a variety of grapes: Listán, Negramoll, Almuñeco and Albillo, harvested in the boroughs of Tijarafe, Garafía and Puntagorda. A large amount of red and white wines are produced, the most prestigious being the Crianza and carbonic maceration varieties. The Tea red wine is emblematic of the region and spends 15 days in Canarian pine barrels.
Sample wines and handmade farm produce
On the road Bellido, in a very agricultural part of the town of Tijarafe, the Noroeste de La Palma winery offers guided visits of its installations to the public. The visit includes the tasting of four wines - whites and reds – as well as the Tea wine. You can also try some locally produced foods such as almonds, bananas and figs. The winery is open both mornings and afternoons from Monday to Friday and on Saturday mornings. It is closed on Sundays. There is also a shop where you can buy wine to take with you.
