Christmas
Winter holidays don\’t have to mean sacrificing the sun! During your trip to Canary Islands, leave the snowmen behind and replace them with sand sculptures like the Gran Canaria Nativity Scene on Las Canteras Beach. While you\’re at one of the best urban beaches in Europe, you can take a swim. If you are in Santa Cruz de Tenerife you mustn't miss the open air Christmas concert, a magical evening that has become a classic for the holiday season.
shopping
Did you know that the sales tax in the Canary Islands is only 7%? That\’s far lower than the rest of Europe, so how about spending some of your Christmas holidays grabbing some bargains in the islands\’ shops.
You can also take a stroll through an outdoor market –there are so many to choose with this marvellous weather– and treat yourself to a special souvenir: handicrafts, Canary Island treats, costume jewellery…
stars
From 7 to 17 December you can observe the Gemínidas, one of the year\’s most stunning meteor showers.
You don't need a telescope to see them. They are are clearly visible. We recommend to choose a moonless night to stargaze in one of our three starlight reserves, all protected from light pollution: La Palma, Fuerteventura and Cumbre de Tenerife.
