Visit one of the historic centres of La Gomera
The grandeur of Vallehermoso, situated in the north-west of the island isn't just remarkable for its size. In the centre of the biggest town in La Gomera, you will come across the essence of this rural island full of ravines and intense greenery. Its historic quarter revolves around the Plaza de La Constitución and the neighbourhoods of Triana and Vegueta, named after the two zones in the Gran Canarian capital, with traditional houses of white walls and hard wood, set in the main streets where time seems to stand still.
Hiking through Tamargada and swimming in the maritime park
Under the watchful gaze of the Cano rock, Vallehermoso oozes charm. To appreciate just how much you only need to go up to the majestic church of San Juan Bautista –one of the biggest in the island– enjoy a coffee in one of the terrace bars in the Plaza de La Constitución or visit Tamargada, one of the delightful hamlets, with picture postcard details and houses dotted among the palm groves. After a stroll around the village you can buy palm honey and almogrote (a local cheese delicacy) or take a refreshing dip in the pools at the coastal park.
