Columbus’ House

A building with a story

Columbus’ house is located in the heart of the capital of La Gomera. Built in the 17th century and containing a permanent exhibition on pre-Columbian sculpture, this superb Canarian house is one of the most important buildings in San Sebastián de La Gomera. It is a place where young and old can discover more about the culture of “Columbus’ island”.

Christopher Columbus stayed here

The history books tell us that Columbus’ House was one of the last places Christopher Columbus stayed before his journey to America. According to some sources, the house was used by the explorer for amorous exchanges.
