Cycle at the foot of La Corona volcano
If ever there was a route of contrasts, it is that which starts in the charming seaside village of Arrieta, in the northeast of Lanzarote, and finishes in the wonderful untamed beach of Caleta Famara. This enjoyable 103 kilometre cycle “touches” the foot of the enigmatic Corona volcano before getting to the fishing village of Órzola. From this point on, the coast is left behind in search of beautiful interior landscapes, like that of Malpaís de La Corona, in Haría, with the most difficult slopes of the route.
Getting to the end of the route at Caleta de Famara
Once past Haría there appears a magical landscape, one of contrasts which leads to the land of black volcanic sand where the grape which makes the famous Lanzarote wine is grown. This is La Geria, where cycling is to be enjoyed and then it is on to the villages of Uga and Yaiza where the cyclist heads northwest towards the National Park of Timanfaya. Here you cycle through lava fields and craters in the middle of a superb landscape and then head to the sports complex at La Santa to take on the final part of the route in Caleta de Famara with its unique unspoilt beach.
