Mansion with character in San Miguel de Abona
There's no greater luxury than having breakfast on a porch surrounded by blue agapanthus flowers, climbing plants, lemon trees, jasmine and lavender while enjoying the first rays of sunshine. In the San Miguel country hotel in the south of Tenerife, the delightful aroma of the garden wafts through the two 17th-century mansions containing its 14 rooms. These impeccably restored traditional rustic rooms have been brought to life again thanks to heirloom furniture and skilful colour choices, particularly in rooms that were previously the attic, goat pen and dairy.
Terrace-sun deck, courtyards and viewing point
The highest and most stately house is reached by a side door that leads to a typical Canarian courtyard, one of the three in the hotel. It's always difficult to choose a spot here, as there are so many and each is as attractive as the next: the lounge bar where you can enjoy a delicious cup of coffee, the outdoor courtyards, with stones, plants and wooden benches, the old water tank converted into a thermal bath –a real reward at the end of the day– or the terrace-sun deck. And who can resist the views of San Miguel de Abona from the viewing point?
