El Tablado

Between two canyons

In the Garafía municipality, the picturesque village of El Tablado’s remaining crops are grown for on-farm consumption. The landscape here is dotted with terrace farming, offering corn, potato, and barley harvests. With its limited number of homes, the village has managed to survive as a haven for locals and visitors alike. It’s located between Barranco de Los Hombres and Facundo, two of the deepest canyons on the island.

A hiker’s paradise

The scenery is spectacular. Laurel and humid thermophilic forests are the dominant vegetation, and the dragon trees are truly exceptional. The views of the sea cliffs as seen from El Tablado are also breath-taking. In an environment so beautiful, hiking is more than a suggestion, it’s practically an obligation. There are also easier trails appropriate for families. The La Zarza Cultural Park and La Caldera, a hot spring, are also nearby.

Sustainability
Sostenibilidad
- Never leave waste of any type lying around, including cigarette butts. Leftover food leads to a proliferation of rats and wild cats, which pose a serious threat to the fauna.
- Do not throw any waste or other objects into the sea.
- Respect the animals. Do not bother them or feed them. If you see an injured specimen, you can call the emergency number: 112. Do not pick flowers or plants.
- Do not pick up or take away stones or any other item from the natural environment. And do not move them to pile them up into sadly famous 'towers'.
- Respect and look after the area's historic and cultural heritage, along with the different items of public furniture (information panels, railings, seats, lighting, etc.).
