A farming hamlet and laurel forest

In the north-east of La Palma, the landscape is dominated by intense green hills, farmland and lush ravines. Nestled between the steep mountainsides you’ll find the hamlet of La Galga, a well-known farming community that, thanks to its cultivated terraces, has maintained the vigorous, time-consuming work on the land to collect the fruits of a place of unforgettable beauty. Close by, there is a magnificent laurel forest, Cubo de La Galga, which simply has to be seen.

La Palma’s traditional architecture

La Galga’s location, set between hills and ravines, has seen the population divided into disperse groups. In the centre of the small, well-maintained village you will find the church of the patron saint, St Bartolomé. This is a small chapel, built in La Palma’s traditional architectural style: tiles, whitewashed stone walls and wooden balconies, a style reflected throughout many houses in the hamlet. When hunger strikes, you’ll discover superb grilled meats here.
