Las Playitas

A lovely seaside town

Las Playitas has retained the essence of Fuerteventura’s traditional coastal towns. Located in the south-east of the island, close to the commercial centre of Gran Tarajal, it has all the charm of a small fishing village. The small white houses with blue stripes flank a marine path along the shore. And in the local restaurants you can enjoy the catch of the day.

A volcanic beach, water sports and terrific landscapes

The town is divided into two quite different parts. On one side you have the fishing hub, and on the other an extensive volcanic sand beach where you can enjoy water sports such as windsurfing. Six kilometres away is the La Entallada lighthouse with amazing sea views and nearby is the mountainous area of Cuchillos de Vigán, which has been declared an official Natural Monument.

Sustainability

- Never leave waste of any type lying around, including cigarette butts. Leftover food leads to a proliferation of rats and wild cats, which pose a serious threat to the fauna.
- Do not throw any waste or other objects into the sea.
- Respect the animals. Do not bother them or feed them. If you see an injured specimen, you can call the emergency number: 112. Do not pick flowers or plants.
- Do not pick up or take away stones or any other item from the natural environment. And do not move them to pile them up into sadly famous 'towers'.
- Respect and look after the area's historic and cultural heritage, along with the different items of public furniture (information panels, railings, seats, lighting, etc.).
