A golf course where international tournaments are hosted

Golf del Sur is a course that has hosted several international championships and has witnessed various world records being made. The Shell Wonderful World of Golf in 1995 is just one example, which involved Ernie Els and Phil Mickelsone, or the 2002 Tenerife Ladies Open. Originally conceived in 1987 by the famous designer Pepe Gancedo and later remodeled in 2005 by professional golfer Manuel Piñero, the course is located in the south of the island of Tenerife.

Only five minutes from the Reina Sofia Airport, the Golf del Sur was the first course to be built in the Canary Islands and offers three competition courses with varying characteristics. The bunkers are made of striking black sand with contrasting sea views. There are several lakes and ochre coloured barrancos. With wide fairways and broad greens, highlights include the 2nd hole, a par-3 of 193 metres, with its spectacular setting and challenging approach to a green surrounded by a huge volcanic sand bunker.
