La Concha beach on the Isle of Lobos

Bathe on a sandy beach on the Isle of Lobos

The main beach on the Isle of Lobos, north of Fuerteventura, is an ideal place to start the day, then continue to explore this uninhabited island of 4.5 square kilometres. It's also a good idea to end your excursion around this scarcely populated islet, only accessible by boat, with a refreshing dip. Either way it’s very advisable to take the opportunity to enjoy the generally calm - and at times - totally still Atlantic and this legendary beach of virtually white sand, offering over a kilometre of tranquillity.

The best beach on Lobos with views of Fuerteventura

The beach of La Concha is situated just a 10-minute walk from the ferry that links to Corralejo and just over 15 minutes’ walk to the island’s small harbour. Its semi-circular shape provides a level of protection that is the key to the transparency of its waters with its many shades of blue. On this noticeably deserted island of almost permanent sunshine, the chance to cool off in this oasis, whether you’re alone or in company, will bring you back to life. Some people even choose to camp here, and many are quick to return to this delightful spot.

Sustainability
Sostenibilidad
- Never leave waste of any type lying around, including cigarette butts. Leftover food leads to a proliferation of rats and wild cats.
- Do not throw any waste or other objects into the sea.
- Respect the animals. Do not bother them or feed them. If you see an injured specimen, you can call the emergency number: 112. Do not pick flowers or plants from the environment.
- Do not pick up or take away stones or any other item from the natural environment. And do not move them to pile them up into sadly famous 'towers'.
- Do not use soap or gel in the showers located at the entrance to the beach.
- Try to use ocean- friendly sun creams.
- Pets are prohibited at most beaches. Make sure you can take them beforehand.
- Try not to alter the peace of the environment with excessive noise (loud music, yelling, etc.) or activities that might be bothersome, such as ball games.
